Graduated from Beijing Iron & Steel Institute in 1954, being awarded as the specialist enjoying Special Subsidy of State Council in 1991, and granted the honorable title of "National Design Master of China" in 1994, Mr. Liang Liqun has worked for more than 40 years in iron & steel engineering design. He has successively acted as the technical leader, such as the team leader of site engineering group, chief engineering designer, and Chief Engineer of CISDI. In the meantime, he has presided over many important engineering designs, organized to solve lots of key and complicated engineering technical problems, making an outstanding achievement in iron & steel technology particularly in hot rolling, as well as great contribution to the development of iron & steel industry of China.

Achievements in Engineering:
In 1960's he presided and organized the engineering design of biggest specialization production line at that time for Chengdu Seamless Steel Tube Mill.
In 1970' s he participated in organizing and leading the engineering of 1700mm Hot Strip Mill for Wuhan Iron & Steel Corp., the first large-sized imported project in China.
For 1980's, he presided and organized the renewal and revamping of hot strip mills, e.g. 2050mm HSM & 1580mm HSM for Baosteel, 1700mm HSM for WISCO, 1700mm for ANGANG and BENXI respectively, ranking among the advanced level worldwide in terms of technology and equipment outfit.

Graduated from Northeast University in 1957, being awarded as the specialist enjoying Special Subsidy of State Council since 1992, and recommended as consulting expert in metallurgical science & technology in 1994, Mr. Xiang Zhongyong was granted with the title of National Design Master in engineering and prospecting circle of China in 2004. From 1984 to 1989, he participated in the process and equipment design of No. 2 BF of Baosteel, which received award from the State Council for importing and digesting technology of major equipment; from 1986 to 1989, he participated in the preliminary process design and construction drawings design of No. 5 BF (1200m3) of Chongqing Iron & Steel Corp., which received Silver award from former MMI; from 1989 to 1994, he took charge of the preliminary process design, construction drawings design and on-site construction services of No. 3 BF (1200m3) of Baosteel, which received Gold award for prime design.
He has been attaching importance to investigation, research, innovation & application of designing theory. In engineering design, he has worked on his own initiative, always looked forward and laid stress on applying mathematics to ironmaking design, e.g. he worked out BF profile calculation formula, linear programming for burdening calculation, regeneration calculation of hot blast stove, etc. Besides, being good at summing up previous experiences, he has written and published a book “Regenerative Hot Blast Stove” and took part in the compilation of “Ironmaking”, "References for Ironmaking Design" and “Encyclopedia of Chinese Metallurgical Industry-Volume of Iron & Steelmaking”, etc. In total Mr. Xiang has published over 60 treatises, among which 30 appeared on core publications and annual academic conferences.
